It’s difficult to decide what we really want to do with our lives because there is too much happening than we can keep track of. Finding purpose in life is a problem for many, we always want everything that comes across us as an opportunity. Then we get stuck deciding which should be a part of us. When I come back home from my one year training as an entrepreneur, I had already started my own fashion company Biafrik. I revived my blog, started volunteering at a certain organization, started working on another idea, then came jobs. In a nutshell I wanted to grab any opportunity that came which left me confused and unfulfilled. I had a hard time settling for what I really wanted to do. I kept on moving back and forth looking for something better, failing to realize that I had the best already. The thing with life is that if we don’t find our focus we keep on rotating in the same position, losing touch with our inner self thinking that we are doing great when we are sinking further down. How often do you find yourself in the same position?, how often do you have something you want to achieve (i.e. lose weight, gain muscle, start a business, travel more). Only to end up confused by all of the options in front of you and never make progress?. It’s just frustrating, really frustrating to be in such position not knowing if it’s killing or making us stronger. Just imagine waking up everyday having different unrelated things to accomplish, what a heavy burden. I want to share with you the things that I did to regaining my focus which brought my life back on track. I hope that you will find it beneficial in improving your way of living. Having certainty in your life gives you inner peace and happiness. Most importantly you are able to make valuable decisions that will immensely impact your life positively.

Kill the fear

Too many of us are not living our dreams because of false evidence appearing real (F.E.A.R). I had to kill my fears of not knowing how I will pay my bills because I want to pursue entrepreneurship. The fear of people talking of how I’m not getting any better, ooh no I don’t have a job, what are people thinking about me. What you are afraid to do is a clear indication of what you should be doing next.

Focus on what you can work with

We have our own our goals in life, not everyone wants to pursue entrepreneurship, we have different desires but we waste time focusing on what is withheld from us. Find that one thing that makes you excited when you are doing it, that makes feeling like ooh yeah!. A friend of mine once told me you can only be successful if you do one thing at a time. I choose to focus on my new idea, since then I have had great progress and can’t wait to launch it as a company.

Commitment is one of the biggest challenges that I have struggled with. I get email and calls on job, scholarships and other opportunities. I get tempted most of the time because I don’t get a paycheck every month or I think this will give me new experience. Learning to say no has been one of the hardest things but I guess I still have more no’s to respond to. That’s the only way you can avoid distractions and always stay committed on what you want to do. The more you commit the closer you’re to achieving your dreams.

Have someone who expects something from you

Surround yourself with people who want to see you becoming the best version of yourselves. Get that one person who not only wants the best for you but also is not afraid to tell you when you are wrong. Knowing that a familiar face expects something of you, will make you show up and commit.

Anything is possible we see people coming from nothing everyday. We see people start with nothing in their pockets but before they die they have the world. It’s because they can see it coming to live. If someone else has done it before why can’t you. Forget what people say about you, it doesn’t matter, the fault they see in you is in them. It matters not the color of your skin,  where you were born, or the limits of your friends and family. The only thing that matters is you and what you believe is possible.

The little things you do makes a difference

Sometimes things will look stuck, even though you’re putting effort. Just so you know Rome was not built in a day. You want to be the best in what you do, well take a chill pill you have a long way to go. Enjoy the process, the little things you do are the ones that built you into becoming who you want to be. Well truth be told it’s a bitter pill even for me but every time I finish a business proposal, I make that one call the, I talk to that one customers the more clarity I get. Getting closer to my destiny day by day. It all starts by crawling, walking, then running.

You can do anything as long as you have the passion, the drive, the focus, and the support. Sabrina Bryan

  1. Lovely article. “No” is a full sentene. I used to struggle with and now I just go by a single rule, “if it doesn’t make me happy, I don’t want it”. No explanations needed, I just say “No” if I am not feeling something. It’s really empowering to stand on your ground.

This is a struggle for most people because we tend to want to achieve things that are of out value instead of inner value.

  2. Life is largely a journey of self identity, when one finds it, they find their purpose. A familiar face. Thanks
